 Kelty Backpack  $65. to $85.

This pack style meets all of our requirements for comfort, durability and convenience:  Non-restrictive, "V" neckline, adjustable straps, made of durable, light-weight materials, high-visibility red, and carries the load over the proper part of the dog's back (the shoulders).  Saddlebags have zippered closures, and pouches are expandable to adjust to the size of the load.  The pack has D-rings for attaching ID, leash, or other necessities, and a convenient handle for helping your dog over tricky terrain (or letting him help pull you!).  Pack is well padded at pressure points and has breathable nylon next to the skin.  Also features a bell to let you (and others) know where your dog is.  The manufacturer is no longer producing this pack as of 2010, and some sizes are no longer available.

     DSA Backpack  $30. to $60.
Made to meet our requirements for comfort, durability and convenience, this pack is lightweight, features a "V" neck harness, and removable saddlebags.  The large flap is great for sewing on the dogs' merit badges and patches.  Comes standard in Dog Scout Red, but can be ordered in other colors for $5.00 extra.  Willie, the Golden is wearing a Large;  Bailey the Toy Poodle is wearing a Petite.  Measure Dog's chest girth beind elbows for sizing.

Sizes

Map Compass  $9.99
This nice quality, liquid filled compass has a movable bezel, and is suitable for use in mapping, orienteering, and letterboxing.  Comes with inexpensive lanyard that you'll want to replace with a cooler one of your own.

Emergency Survival Tool  $5.99
This great item combines a whistle plus a mirror for signaling, a compass, a waterproof compartment for matches, and a small flint sparker for starting a fire.  It comes with its own inexpensive lanyard.

Multifunction Tool/Knife  $4.99

This knife has many implements, like the more expensive Swiss Army Knife, but way cheaper.

Lightweight Pocket Knife    $1.99
Perfect for the small dog's pack.  It's functional, yet doesn't weigh a lot or take up much room.

Small First Aid Kit   $2.99

This first aid kit contains the essentials for minor first aid needs (no oxygen tent...).  It is pretty decent for the price, and sports the Dog Scout Logo, and comes in a nice little plastic case.

Collapsible Water Bowl  $2.99

This is a must for your backpack, or any kind of travelling with your dog.  Folds flat to fit in pack or purse.

LED Light with Caribiner  $2.99

This very small light comes with a keychain attachment, so that it can be kept handy at all times.  It also is itself a little plastic caribiner, and can quickly be clipped to all kinds of handy places.  These bright lights can be seen for over a mile.  Light shines in white beam.  Imprinted on the side of the red body are the words, "Dog Scout Camp."

Walking Stick with Wrist Lanyard  $14.99

This attractive walking stick is perfect for hiking in the woods.  Besides helping me balance, I have used mine to help me "repel" down a steep grade to reach an elusive letterbox (I also attached my leash, for more distance).  I'm sure I would have never been seen again, if not for my trusty walking stick.  I also use it to poke in holes that I dare not reach into with my bare hands, while geocaching.  You can also collect hiking stick medallions at various parks, preserves, mountain ranges, etc. which you can attach to your hiking stick.  Comes with a small leather wrist lanyard.

Platypus Water Bottle  $7.99 and $9.99

These are a must for any hiker.  Their soft-sided design allows you to let the air out as you consume the contents, so that the slosh does not throw you off balance or give you a bad back (or your dog).  Comes in two sizes (.5 litre and 1 litre).  The smaller size features a pop-up drinking spout.  The larger one no longer comes with the pop up drinking spout, but has a screw on cap.

Poop Light!     $1.99
This little LED light straps right to your finger, which makes it PERFECT for picking up poop in the dark!  The light shines right through the baggie on your hand, to illuminate your target, so as not to leave any behind.
These come in 4 colors: Blue, Red, Green and White.  Let us know if you want a specific color.  They all work equally well to shed light on a poop pick-up.

PupLight - A flashlight for your dog     $21.99
This is your dog's very own flashlight.  With three bright LED bulbs lighting the way, the flood of light shines right where your dog is heading, because it is worn around the dog's neck.  The beam can be adjusted toward the ground immediately in front of the dog's feet, or further out ahead, with a hinge feature.  These are Great!

Hat Light    $4.99
Not to be outdone by your dog, we have a wearable flashlight for the pet parent, too.  Just clip this light under your ball cap bill, and it will illuminate your path, hands-free!  Five bright LED lights will keep you on the right path.  Light has constant mode, and flashing mode, to act as a signalling device.
